The challenge of acoustic measurement in the wind tunnel:from accurate measurements and separation to acoustic imaging

Abstract : The acoustic measurements in the wind tunnel test are critical to investigating the aircraft's aerodynamic noise generation and low noise design. The challenges of acoustic wind tunnel measurements from accurate measurement and separation to acoustic imaging are addressed in this presentation. The connection between the mechanism of noise, the governing equation and the signal processing are tried to construct in this presentation, and the state-of-the-art acoustic measurement results in open wind tunnels and closed wind tunnels are shown in this presentation. In the open wind tunnel tests, the cyclostationary modeling of the rotor aerodynamic noise, the rotor noise imaging under strong interference, and the measurement separation of main and tail rotor aerodynamic noise are introduced. The turbulent boundary layer (TBL) noise model in closed wind tunnels is described based on the Gaussian mixture model. The wind tunnel test data verify the validity of the above methods.
