A Semiparametric Bayesian Approach to Operational Transfer Path Analysis for Small Structures.

Transfer Path Analysis (TPA) is a powerful tool for characterizing vibration transmission. Among its variants, Operational TPA (OTPA) has potential for application to small and complex structures. In this study, a representative model was developed that mimics the outer shell of a behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aid to experimentally evaluate the applicability of OTPA to miniature systems. The OTPA formulation is refined based on rigid-body theory to achieve a more expressive representation of the structural dynamics. Furthermore, a novel semiparametric model is proposed to capture complex structural interactions. By incorporating a Gaussian process prior within a Bayesian framework, the proposed model is expected to enhance the understanding of residual dynamics and offer deeper insights into the acoustic excitation contribution.
